Hulda Victoria Grant

Hulda Victoria (Hinther) Grant, 90, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at the Renaissance Senior Care Center in Helena, Mont.

She was born in Jordan, Mont., on March 27, 1925, the daughter of John Henry and Maria (Koch) Hinther. She attended school in Jordan and married Dixon Grant on Dec. 19, 1942, in Miles City. They had one son, Dennis Norval Grant, on May 13, 1944.

She worked as the chief cook on the Veseth Ranch south of Malta for many years until moving into town, where she then worked for Kamala's Jewelry store.

She was known for her fabulous meals that she prepared with love for her family and friends. She was an avid gardener who shared this passion with others through her involvement with the Malta Dirt Daubers. She showed her creativity through her sewing, knitting and handmade crafts that will be cherished by those who have received them throughout the years.

She enjoyed entertaining and socializing, taking pleasure in card playing and square dancing. She loved the outdoors, often hiking and picking June berries in Zortman.

Her door was always open to those who came, often providing care for sick children and always treats for her visitors. She was an active member of the Malta Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dixon; one son, Dennis; six brothers: an infant brother, Alexander, Emanuel, Fred, August, Bill and Karl; and one sister, Rosie.

Survivors include two sisters, Gertie Hinther of Glasgow and Leonora Brumbelow of Jacksonville, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Malta Lutheran Church followed by interment in the Malta Cemetery.
