Edward Tade, Jr.

Edward Tade, Jr. passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, in Great Falls, Mont., at age 86 after a short battle with cancer at the Peace Hospice House surrounded by family.

He was born in 1929 in Ossette (attended to by a midwife) to Lillian and Edward Tade, Sr. and was the oldest of six children.

He lived on the family farm and attended schools in Nashua, graduating in 1947. He was a man of many careers, starting with dairy cows, refuse contractor for the City of Glasgow, raising cattle and hay and finally becoming a grocer for 40 years. His grocery career started in Glasgow at Buttrey Foods on the south side in Glasgow, then Gordon's Foods, and eventually with Western Warehouse/Supervalu and County Market in Great Falls.

In 1950, he met and married Mary Moseley, and from that union four children were born, Larry, Jerry, Debbie and Vicki. They later divorced.

In 1970, he married Hulda Aitken, and together they raised six children, Lynda, Shirley, Margaret, Nancy, Larry and Lisa.

He was known and will be remembered as a hard worker with a strong work ethic. He was a farmer at heart and was always most content working in his garden or doing wood working projects. He was the neighborhood handyman doing snow removal, lawn mowing and carpentry for a nearby small apartment building. He always came back to the love of the land and looked forward to the fall harvest on his brother's and nephew's farms.

For several years he and Hulda spent winters in Arizona and traveling with his siblings and spouses. He always remembered life's special events with either a card or telephone call.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian (Stroud) and Edward Tade, Sr; a brother, Marvin Tade and his wife, Ellen; brothers-in-law, Sam Sauer and Alex Zygmond; and his lifelong friend, Harold Eide.

Survivors include his wife, Hulda Mae, of Great Falls; three sisters, LaDonna Sauer, Marcia Zygmond and Helen Elkin and her husband, Clarence, all of Billings; one brother, Ron, and his wife, Norma Jean, of Scobey; children, Larry E. Tade and his wife, Bev; Jerry Tade and his wife, Teresa; Debbie Tade, Vicki Beaulieu and her husband, Sean; Lynn Wetterling, Shirley Aitken; Margaret Godolphin and her husband, Sidney; Nancy Aitken-Nobles and her husband, Buddy Nobles; Lisa Brieske and her husband, Tom, and Larry R.
