Running Scotties Sweep Plentywood in Final Tune-Up

Four Glasgow runners finished in their respective meet's overall top five - Walker Allen and Ellis McKean for the boys, Emily and Julia Kolstad for the girls - as the Scotties coasted to top honors in Plentywood on Oct. 17.

Merlin McKean, Braden Meland, and Cade Myrick rounded out the male scorers in their fourth victory of the season. Morgan Guttenberg, Alex Simensen, and Katie Kaiser slotted 3-4-5 for the girls, whose triumph marked a hat-trick of 1st place races in 2015.

Saturday, both groups stride into Great Falls for the state championship meet.

The girls' last title came in 2013, at the time the team's fourth successive title. The boys' came in 1967, when Glasgow participated at the Class A level.

In 2014, the teams finished 4th and 9th, respectively. This season, the team will be represented by:

Girls--Emily Kolstad, Julia Kolstad, Morgan Guttenburg, Alex Simensen, Brinlie Nielsen, Faith Sallee, Katie Kaiser and Mary Fewer (alternate).

Boys--Walker Allen, Ellis McKean, Gabe Hallock, Merlin McKean, Braden Meland, Cade Myrick, Chase Hughes, Ethan Jamba (alternate) and Shane Sinclair (alternate).

The Montana State all-class championship meet will be held on Oct. 24 in Great Falls at the Eagle Falls Golf Course.
