Scotties Stun Class A Glendive in Five

Hold off Poplar in Three to Remain at the Top of 2B

Talk about a comeback! In unfamiliar territory, against a strong Class A Glendive team, the GHS girls started out in spurts - sometimes good, sometimes not so good, dropping the first two sets. Game three showed the first real spark of their desire to compete and they played what can only be described as 'recovery' volleyball before their confidence level began to inch up and they won that critical set. Game four was a solid win for the Scotties and game five was the icing on the cake, with tough serving being the major contributing factor.

A constant barrage of aggressive offense from Glendive forced some errors on the Scottie side, but then the steady, inspired passing/defense turned things around, keeping GHS afloat. Add in some high emotional intensity and tough serving, especially game five, and the girls proved they were a force to be reckoned with. Final scores from Glendive: 14-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-4

The match in Poplar on Friday afternoon went just as the Scotties hoped for, despite nursing four players back to health. Passing was nearly flawless, defense was inspired, setting was clever and made use of all attackers, offense was varied and effective, and serving was exceptional with 25 aces and only two misses. A very solid performance from all players - a tremendous way to enter the second half of the conference schedule as teams vie for positioning at the District Tournament over Halloween weekend.Final scores from Poplar: 25-16, 25-15, 25-14
