No amount of rain, muck, or wind could deter the Scotties from the task set before them in Havre on Oct. 3.
The varsity boys finished second for the second straight week, falling victim to Fergus County's dazzling race, while the girls strode to a middle-of-the-pack result - third out of five teams.
In the boys' race, Fergus' top five totaled just ten points above the minimum fifteen en route to a 48-point victory. The Glasgow boys, though their tally was near triple the winners', turned in a race strong enough to ward off third-place Browning's charge by six.
Walker Allen led the way with an 18:17 (4th overall). Ellis McKean followed three seconds later in 6th. Gabe Hallock and Merlin McKean came 16-17 with identical 18:49 times, and Braden Meland rounded out the Glasgow scorers with a 20:30, 30th-place finish.
Emily Kolstad (9th) and sister Julia (16th) again paced the Scotties' field in the girls' race, turning in respective 22:46 and 23:38 times. Brittle Nelson (23:42, 17th), Morgan Guttenberg (23:47, 19th), and Katie Kaiser (24:29, 27th) also scored. Their total of 88 exceeded second-place Fergus' tally by 11, Browning's by 20.
This weekend, the squad travels to Miles City.
