Dr. William Edward Wright M.D.

Dr. William Edward Wright M.D., 70, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Mont., of complications from Huntington's disease.

He was born on Sept 8, 1945, in Denver, Colo., to Mary Ann Grabow and Dewey Sampson Wright. When he was in the sixth grade, the family moved to Helena, where he graduated from Helena Senior High in 1963. He attended colleges at Montana State University in Bozeman and Carroll College in Helena. He graduated in 1968 with a bachelor degree; a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. He continued his education at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, La., from 1968-1972, having attained his doctorate of medicine. He then continued his education at the University of North Carolina with a five-year residency in pathology at Chapel Hill, N.C., which was completed in 1977.

Upon completion of his education in the medical fields, he came to Glasgow. He was employed as the pathologist at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital starting in March of 1978 until his retirement in 1993.

In addition to his responsibilities at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Clinic Laboratory, he traveled to Scobey, Wolf Point and Poplar as a consulting pathologist.

He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, skiing and golfing. He also enjoyed playing poker, especially 5 card stud. He liked to camp out at the South Fork of the Judith River with his black labrador dogs, Nicki and Ruby.

In June of 2005, he moved into the Valley View Home, and was a resident there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Dewey Wright; one sister, Patricia Marlow; and an uncle, Garret Wright.

Survivors include an aunt and uncle, JoAnn and Branson Payne, their son, Garret Payne, of San Ramon, Calif., and their daughter, Sheri Lake, of Denver; and aunt, Sherri Wright of Pasadena, Calif .; a nephew, Bradley Marlow, of Riverton, Wyo .; a niece, Kathleen Diehl, and her sons, Shane and Eric, of Peoria, Ariz.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Family and friends gathered at the Bell Mortuary at 1 p.m. and proceded to Highland Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
