Scotties Persevere at Dickinson Invitational

In Spite of Dropped Matches, Team Maintains Fight

It was a weekend full of experiences and opportunities for the GHS volleyball team and while it doesn't seem all that successful on paper, the girls learned some valuable team lessons and also earned some team pride.

They learned to overcome adversity and still give teams a run for their money (they lost in three to both Kindred and Baker during pool play) and on the flip side, pulled out some amazing feats against Bismarck Century, the equivalent of a Montana AA team. Imagine 5'5 throwing hands up against 6'0 and coming away with a few blocks, or repeatedly digging very hard hit balls with no block to slow them down - it's what the girls did, proudly and with smiles on their faces. It is inspiring to watch them battle.

Saturday afternoon ended on a high for the Scotties. After a loss to Lewis and Clark they bounced back with a 2-1 win against the same Baker team they had played on Friday, this time with much different results. A completely determined group of 11 Scottie volleyball players banded together and played in the style to which we have become accustomed - energetic, focused and successful.

This is a very deep volleyball team. Every player saw a lot of court time, from sophomores on up to seniors. Substitutions were kept to a minimum to allow players time to adjust and earn their stripes. When the dust settled, GHS came away a stronger team and that is always the goal.
