The Candidates Are In

Homecoming Parade Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2

Glasgow High School has announced the 2015 homecoming royalty. The candidates are: Tavia Fairclough, Abigail Kolstad and Alexandrea Simensen for queen, and Ethan Etchart, Logan Gunderson and Trevor Toavs for king. Coronation of the king and queen will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.

All participants for the parade will line up at 2:10 p.m. at the Civic Center. Proceeding on the same route as last year, the parade will start from the Civic Center and go down 1st Avenue S. to First Community Bank, then turn onto 2nd Avenue S. to D&G, 3rd Avenue S. to Campbell Lodge, 4th Avenue S. by the front of Prairie Ridge, and back to the Civic Center.

The Saskatoon Police Pipes & Drums Band will return by popular demand to perform at multiple events during the homecoming weekend. They will showcase the parade as well as perform at 6 p.m. at the Scottie Booster Club tailgate party, and at 7 p.m. at the football game and its half-time show.

Be sure to bring a warm coat as you go about the festivities. The weather forecast for Friday calls for a 50 percent chance of showers with a high of 59 degrees.

There are many more opportunities for the public to catch the Saskatoon Police band. On Saturday, Oct. 3, the band will perform at 9 a.m. at the Kiwanis pancake breakfast (breakfast is served from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Cottonwood Inn), 11 a.m. at Nemont Manor, 11:30 a.m. at Prairie Ridge, and at 3:30 p.m. at the varsity volleyball game at GHS. It will also perform at various stops during the pub crawl Saturday evening.

The varsity football game vs. the visiting Wolf Point Wolves will kick off at 7 p.m. at the Scottie Field Friday night. The Scottie volleyball team will take on the Lady Wolves on Saturday with freshmen matches starting at 1 p.m. The cross country runners will travel to Havre Invitational on Saturday morning.
