Nashua Volleyball Owns the Weekend

Team Dominates, Sweeps Both Its Matches

The Nashua Lady Porcupines broke the will of successive opponents on Sept. 4 and 5, drubbing both the Harlem Wildcats and the Lustre Lady Lions, 3-0.

Thursday night versus the visiting Wildcats was hardly a contest. The Porcupines owned the court, leaping high to convert spikes and blocks, sliding to save points with valiant digs. Harlem cowered, paled, and fell in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17.

On Friday, Lustre tiptoed into the Nashua gymnasium and met the same steamroller. Faith Keys rifled five aces through the Lady Lions' hapless returners and recorded four of the team's six kills, Chloe Kossel notched four assists, and the visitors faded to black.

Nashua won the first two games, 25-23 and 25-20, and sealed the sweep with a 25-18 nightcap.

For Lustre, Mary BigHorn had five aces and Kassie Kirkaldie converted 8 digs, but their combined performance fell short in challenging the Nashua attack.

Next up for the Lady Porcupines is Thursday's 4:30 tilt versus Poplar.
