FMDH Foundation 'Chip In' Golf Tournament

The weather was just what we ordered for the FMDH Foundation's 17th Annual Open Golf Tournament on June 14. The teams came out to support a great cause and great community.

Each of the 24 teams registered, had breakfast, and were all ready to tee off by 9 a.m. Every hole featured a different game for men, women, or everyone with the winner taking home wonderful prizes donated by local businesses. The games were designed so that experienced and inexperienced golfers alike had chances to win. The marshmallow game sponsored by the Foundation was an enjoyable break between holes.

The FMDH Foundation is extremely fortunate that this fundraising tournament is well sponsored by local businesses, showing their support of the Foundation's mission. Businesses participated as Major Event Sponsors, Hole Sponsors and by providing merchandise, gift certificates or cash for prizes. This year we had a premier event sponsor: NorthWestern Energy.

Hi-Line Ford sponsored the hole-in-one prize of a 2015 Red Mustang: We were lucky to have our hole-in-one watcher, Pam Dance, who came out to witness any hole-in-ones. Although no one won this year, all had fun trying.

This one-day event required weeks of planning that was undertaken by Foundation board members including Jon Bengochea, Pam Dance, Mikel Erickson, Della Gardner, Shelly George, Carrie Mesman, Stan Ozark, Tracey Waarvik and Karla Zerbe. The golf tournament is the Foundation's major fundraiser, which requires staff and board members to contact businesses each year throughout our area. Once again, the response received was amazing and we are very grateful.

The tournament could not have happened without the additional help of many volunteers on the day of the event, like Dan Frost, Becky Johnson and Butch and Martha Tewell.

The teams started to trickle in with an appetite, which made the barbecued pork dinner sponsored by Cornwell Ranch & Brookhaven Kennels and prepared by Kevin Haddix and Randy Gough, that much more welcome. After dinner, the awards ceremony was conducted by Stan Ozark.

Everyone who participated and helped make this such a great event was greatly appreciated. See you next year!
