Wilbur Bauer

Wilbur Bauer, 92, of Williston, ND, formerly of Nashua, Mont., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 1, 2015.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at Fulkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Williston with Pastor Kay Reeb officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1922, to Emil and Mildred (Childs) Bauer of Nashua. He attended Nashua Grade School and High School through grade 11.

He served in the military from his date of entry at Butte on Dec. 23, 1942. He served in Branch H and S Co. 554th Eng 9th Army, and in Europe during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 3, 1945, at Fort Douglas, Utah.

He was a member of the VFW Post 3107 and American Legion Post 41 in Glasgow. He worked on the Flathead Dam in Montana and made his living as a laborer for 40-plus years.

In 1959, he married Ruth Lauckner of Nashua and they homesteaded 10 miles northeast of Nashua, making that location home for many years. It was during this period that he and Ruth were blessed with their son, Milton. The family moved to Williston in 2002.

He enjoyed cooking, baking, being outdoors working around the yard, putting jigsaw puzzles together and watching Lawrence Welk on television.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bauer; and a brother, Lawrence, of Gillette, Wyo.

Survivors include one son, Milton, of Williston; one stepson, David Lauckner and his wife, Cynthia, of Golden Valley, Minn.; one stepdaughter, Junette Dalke of Billings; two sisters, Norma McMinimy of Texas, and Cora Vuncannon of California; along with a niece and nephews.
