Mud Bogs and Sand Drags Make for Good Clean Fun

Twenty-five vehicles participated in the Sand Drags and Mud Bogs events last weekend held at the Northeast Montana Fairgrounds at Glasgow. A total of $4,190 was paid out in prize money.

Glasgow resident Robert Ordway said of the event: "It was great bonding time for me and my grandson [Zoah Meland-Ordway, 3]. I just wish they would have had more cars. It was good for the kids because they all look forward to the Dash for Cash in the mud."

The Sand Drags events commenced at noon on Saturday and 165 people attended. Kevin Frigon of Glasgow took first place in the Stock event with a time of 5.56 seconds, winning $171.50. Dak Hurley, Fairview, Mont., came in second at 6.66 seconds, winning $73.50.

In the Super Stock event, Dace Baxbaum of Fairview won at 5.11 seconds, winning $299.35. Bryce Lawrence, Glasgow, was second with 5.26 seconds and a $179.65 prize. Kevin Frigon, Glasgow, was third at 5.87 seconds, winning $119.75.

In the Modified event, Gerald Huber of Brooks, Alberta, Canada, took first with a time of 4.31 seconds, winning $259.37. Bryce Lawrence, Glasgow, was second at 4.51 seconds, winning $155.62. Victor Bael, of Taber, Alberta, came in third at 4.72 seconds, $103.75.

In the Super Modified event, Gerald Huber of Brooks, Alb., won with a time of 4.26 seconds, winning $199.37. Adam Powell, Glasgow, took second with 4.36 seconds, winning $119.62. Cody Dix, Glasgow, was third at 4.46 seconds, winning $79.75.

Amanda Powell of Glasgow won the Open event with a time of 4.37 and won $251.12. Tom Hooper, Glasgow, placed second with 4.86 seconds, winning $107.62.

The Mud Bogs events kicked off at noon on Sunday with 295 spectators. Dak Hurley of Fairview won the Stock event with a distance of 62' 6" and a prize of $193.

Bryce Lawrence of Glasgow won the Modified event with a distance of 101' 8" and $199.62. Jay Lewis of Great Falls took second with 94' 4", winning $119.77. Zack Mullin, Sidney, came in third at 93', winning $79.85.

In the Modified event, Gerald Huber of Brooks, Alb., won with 22.4 seconds and a $299.62 prize. Rich Johnson, of Raymond, Alb., took second at 24.6 seconds with $179.77. Josh Dix, Glasgow, rounded out the top three with 41.5 seconds, winning $119.85.

Adam Powell of Glasgow won the Super Modified event with a time of 23.97 seconds. Cody Dix, Glasgow, was second with a distance of 131' 9", winning $119.77. Matthew Mullin of Crane, Mont., placed third with 130', winning $79.85.

In the Open event, Gerald Huber of Brooks, Alb., won with 14.3 seconds, winning $239.62. Tom Hooper, Glasgow, took second with 17.47 seconds, winning $143.25. Amanda Powell, Glasgow, was third at 18.5 seconds, winning $95.85.

The Valley County Fair Commission provided $1,200 in prize money. Milk River Motorsports gave additional $1,000. Event entry fees rounded out the prize sources. The weekend events were made possible by the various Milk River Motorsports sponsors as well as the Valley County Fair Commission, the Rodeo Committee, and several volunteers.
