Wolf Point Track Meet Primes Athletes For District Next Weekend

The second track meet of the week for the Scotties was held in Wolf Point Saturday. Coach Tim Phillips decided not to run the kids in all events, keeping the meet low-key for the day, but it was a good time for the team to gain some experience on the track at Wolf Point because the District meet will be held there on Saturday – one week later.

There was a computer system malfunction, so no results could be counted for state qualifying times – although there were a number of personal bests throughout the day:

BOYS:

Logan Gunderson achieved a personal best in the 100 meter dash from13.32 to 13.04.

Benji Phillips cut his time for the 400 meter run from 54.83 to 53.14.

Ethan Etchart, Walker Allen, and Tanner Overby all achieved personal bests in the 800 meter run. Etchart cut more than 6 seconds off his time from 2:22.00 to 2:15.24, Allen cut nearly 4 seconds off from 2:22.00 to 2:18.24, and Overby shaved off .02 seconds from 2:58.00 to 2:56.00. In the 3200 meter run, Overby also cut time from 14:00.51 to 13:27.00.

In field events, Andrew Fransen increased his triple jump distance to 36-06 from 35-01 and Trent Herbert went from 37-09 to 39-03. Herbert and Fransen also achieved personal bests in the long jump with Herbert gaining from 18-07.25 to 19-00.00 and Fransen increasing his personal best by nearly a foot – 16-07.50 to 17-08.75. Trevor Toavs also increased his distance in the long jump from 15-06.00 to 16-03.50.

In the shot put, Tanner Roness, threw his best of 38-08.25 from 37-11.50 and Toavs bested his previous throw of 36-03.00 with a distance of 38-03.00.

GIRLS:

In the 100 meter dash, Glasgow had 3 girls achieve personal bests - Baylie Chappell cut her time from 14.01 to 13.84, Morgan Guttenberg cut her time from 14.87 to 14.44, and Auguste Salyards cut her time from 14.72 to 14.64.

Chappell also cut time in the 200 meter dash along with Amanda Wolff. Chappell's previous time was 28.93 and new personal best is 28.54. Wolff cut her time from 28.44 to 28.34.

Wolff did it again in the 400 meter run, cutting her time from 66.3 to 63.54. Guttenberg, who also had a PR in the 100 meter dash, followed that up by cutting her time in the 400 as well – from 70.70 to 67.54. Brinlie Nielsen was the third girl to cut time in the 400 from 64.34 to 63.74. The girls 4x100 meter relay team continues to improve and ran a personal best – from 52.72 to 52.64. In the field events for the girls, Andrea Hansen threw the discus nearly 5 feet more than her previous personal best from 75-02 to 80-01. Karissa Liebelt improved in her two jumping events - from 13-11 to 14-09.25 in the long jump, and from 29-00 to 29-08.50 in the triple jump.In javelin, Alex Simensen increased her throw from 69-03 to 76-00.

200 meter dash – Alex Simensen placed third with a time of 27.99; Amanda Wolff fourth with 28.84; Baylie Chappell fifth with 28.88

400 meter run – Amanda Wolff placed second with a time of 1:03.27; Brinlie Nielsen third with 1:03.46; Alex Simensen sixth (no time listed)

800 meter run – Amanda Buckles, Frazer, placed sixth (no time listed)

3200 meter run – Amanda Buckles, Frazer, placed sixth (no time listed)

100 meter hurdles – Julia Kolstad placed second with a time of 17.52

4x100 meter relay – Glasgow placed first with a time of 52.38.

Long jump – Jordan Kulczyk placed second with a jump of 15-01.00; Karissa Liebelt third with 14-09.25

High Jump – Baylie Chappell placed fourth with a jump of 4-04; Kaylee King fifth with 4-04

Shot put – Dana Hughes placed second with a throw of 32-01.75; Leinie Hughes third with 31-03.50; Keirsten Wethern sixth (no results listed).

Discus – Dana Hughes placed first with a throw of 101-08; Faith Keys, Nashua, fourth with 82-09.

Javelin – Faith Keys, Nashua, placed third with a throw of 97-06

BOYS:

100 meter dash – Benji Phillips placed first with a time of 11.51; Chase Fossum fourth with 11.66.

200 meter dash – Dalton Kautz, Nashua, placed sixth. (no time listed)
