Golfers Tee Off On Home Turf At Glasgow Invitational

In the first invitational of the season the Glasgow Scotties hosted. While the weather held out and minimum winds made it a good day to swing a club.

"Normally in Glasgow there's either rain, wind or snow and we were lucky we didn't have any of it," Coach Dave Riggin said.

The boys team was able to snag a second place overall for the team with a total score of 413, only losing to Malta, whose score came in at 368.

Two players were returning varsity lettermen players. Riggin said that all the new players played better than their best at the invitational.

"We're lacking experience with what we have, but our new players, Cody (King), Jordan (Keys) and Max (Carpenter) did better than their average," Riggin said.

Boys that placed were Wyatt Holzworth in fourth with a total score of 86. First in the tournament went to a Scobey player with a score of 85.

The girls had the only qualifying team in the tournament, so there wasn't really a team win there, altough they place by default. Riggin said that no other team had the four players needed to qualify for the tournament.

The girls team has three returning varsity letterman players returning this year, and two brand new players.

"The girls are improving every week," Riggin said.

Three girls placed in the top ten. Makkell Baillargeon placed fourth with a score of 106. Tamrah Pewitt placed sixth with a score of 117 and Heidi Moon came in eighth with a score of 130. The total team score came in at 512.

The Malta Invitational was set to take place on Saturday, but the weather did not cooperate and the event was cancelled. The team will make up that invitational on Wednsday, April 29.

They attended the Plentywood Invitational on Monday, April 27, results are pending and will be reported in the next issue.
