Robert Peter Stordahl

Robert Peter Stordahl, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Rose Linn Care Center in Portland, Ore.

A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Billings on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. Interment of cremains will be at Riverview Cemetery in Savage.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1934, in Sidney, Mont., the oldest of six children born to Peter and Dolly (Raab) Stordahl. He was raised in the Fairview area.

On Aug. 8, 1954, he married Irene Gabel in Sidney. They soon moved to Fort Lewis, Wash., where he enlisted in the Army. He was enlisted from 1954 to 1956, spending some time in Germany. In 1956 they moved back to Sidney where he worked for the Red E Mix Company and Thirud Office Supply. When he was hired by the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, he moved his family to Billings. He and Irene raised their two children, Colleen and Cindy, as they moved around eastern Montana. They moved to Glendive, Glasgow and Miles City as he advanced in his career, retiring in 1993. He and Irene moved to Fort Peck and enjoyed retirement there.

He had many hobbies including carpentry, leather work, lapidary and wood carving.

He and Irene were married for 50 years. They attended many graduations and weddings of their nieces and nephews, family reunions and watched sporting activities of their grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; and daughter, Colleen Haskin Matthews.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Nass and her husband, Greg, of Walla Walla, Wash.; three brothers, Richard Stordahl of Billings, Jim Stordahl of Great Falls, and Tom Stordahl and his wife, Dixie, of Loring; two sisters, Beverly Haagenson and her husband, Lou, of Billings and Lila Birgenheier of Kansas; four grandchildren, Michelle Ozark of Glasgow, Jenny Haskin of Billings, Tyler Nass of Oregon and Blake Nass of Washington; one great-grandson, Eli Feezell, of Glasgow; and many nieces and nephews.
