Convicted Rapist Sentenced To 20 Years

A rape trial that lasted three-days in October has finally come to its end with sentencing. Gavin Ackerman, 19, was found guilty on Halloween for non-consensual intercourse with bodily injury.

Valley County Attorney Nick Murnion served as the prosecuting attorney in the case. He ended his argument that the defendant had said he made the biggest mistake of his life, and he believed he had. That mistake had Ackerman sentenced on Monday to 20 years in state prison, with 12 years suspended. He will also be forced through the Phase 1 sex offender treatment program.

Ackerman was found guilty for a rape that occurred in the bathroom of the victim's home. She went to the hospital after the incident and evidence was gathered in the emergency and at the scene of the crime.
