Speech & Drama Off To Hardin After Enjoying Some Home Cooking

The GHS speech and drama team heads to the Hardin Invitational this Saturday, Dec. 6, hoping to build off its fine Class B showing Nov. 22 at their first home meet under the program's new coaching staff.

The Glasgow speech team won the first place trophy, with Malta second and Baker third. The drama team placed second, between victorious Baker and Malta.

Head coach Matt Baker credited a number of his student competitors with “very strong finishes” that contributed to the Scottie success. On the speech side:

• Ethan Jamba, first, serious oral interpretation.

• Rachel Sigmundstad, first, spontaneous oral interpretation.

• Freshman Jrake Gutow, fourth, serious oral interpretation.

• Max Knodel, second, original oratory.

On the drama side, coach Baker recognized:

• Mariah Holter, second, mime.

• Rachel Overby, second, humorous solo acting.

• Hailey Stone, second, serious solo acting.

Thirteen schools participated in the GHS meet.

In speech, Sidney was first, Hardin second and Miles City third in Class A, while Culbertson was first, Circle second and Froid/Medicine Lake third in Class C.

In drama, Sideny was first, Hardin second and Miles City third in Class A, while Culbertson was first, Circle second and Hinsdale third in Class City.

Bacon expressed his gratitude to all who helped make the Glasgow meet a success.

The Glasgow School Board this fall also approved Sara Wittmayer as volunteer S&D coach and Margaret Boelman as assistant coach.
