Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Valley County Audit Response Comes In

The Valley County courthouse had visits from the auditors recently. Their responses came in with some minor suggestions.

The full report is usually available after the the New Year.

The auditors suggested segregated collections and budgets for the airport, refuse and weed departments.

They also suggested that they consider taking a supply inventory so the county can track property and items.

Another suggestion was that formal financial procedures and policies be made for the county's fair board and the health department.

The county commissioners also discussed the progress of the courthouse roof at their latest meeting. They spoke to an architect who looked at the roof and at different possibilities for the roof repair.

A spray on roof was suggested, which would give the roof 10-15 more years and would be much cheaper than a full replacement. The commissioners have looked at a bid for the spray on and will be looking at the cost of a brand new roof before making a final decision.
