Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Before Butterball

Now that we've all had our fill of turkey, imagine cooking your Thanksgiving meal in a wood stove. That's what Cozy May Aliff did. She was homesteaded south of Larslan and was known for cooking delicious meals and bread. She hauled water from several miles away by wagon. In 1912, the Valley County Poultry Shipping Association sent an astounding 61,458 pounds of dressed turkeys to the New York markets.
