Should Outfitters Collect Fees From Clients?

Montana's Fish & Wildlife Commission is seeking comment on changes to rules that govern how outfitters are paid by their clients when conducting commercial use on FWP land.

The proposed rule changes would allow a guide working on behalf of a licensed outfitter to collect fees from clients, a practice prohibited under the current rules.

The proposal is intended to make it easier for an outfitter to collect payments from a client, while also retaining Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks' ability to prevent illegal outfitting.

Comments are due by Dec. 5. For more information or to comment on the proposed rule changes online, visit the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov.
