Philip W. Boerschinger

Philip W. Boerschinger, 86, of Billings, Mont., passed away from natural causes on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Tender Nest Retirement Center in Billings.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

The son of Michael M. and Dorla Boerschinger, he was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Glasgow and grew up on the family farm near Nashua. He graduated from Nashua High School.

On Sept. 24, 1949, he married Damaris Wagner in Nashua where he worked for the Farmers Union Grain Elevator and did seismic work. In 1957 they moved their family to Billings and he worked as a roofer before working 27 years at Exxon Refinery, retiring in 1987.

A hobby machinist, he built Hawken muzzleloader rifles. He also rebuilt old tractors, steam engines and flywheel engines. He could fix anything mechanical - without the Internet! He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Damaris; one son, Michael; and one brother, Ambrose.

Survivors include one son, Matthew Boerschinger, and his wife, Eve, of Billings; one daughter, Michaela Letasky-Brekke and her husband, Karl, of Billings; five grandchildren, John Letasky, Lisa Letasky, Thomas Letasky and his wife, Rebecca, Melissa Jordan and her husband, Alden, and Mark Boerschinger; and one great-grandson, Brandon Jordan.
