Robert Ballard Tootell Jr.

Robert Ballard Tootell Jr., 85, passed away Oct. 4 at the Valley View Rest home in Glasgow.

He was born to Robert B. and Helen Strong Tootell on Sept. 30, 1929, in Bozeman, Mont. He graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1947. After high school he worked for the REA, did a stint in the Army, and finally, went to college at Montana State University where he graduated in accounting in 1956. He married Mae Brooks in 1954 and they had two children – Bobbi and Don.

He was an accountant in Bozeman for years. He finally retired in 2006 and moved to Lewistown, Mont., where he lived for eight years. He moved to Glasgow in May of 2014. He was an avid Bobcat fan and was thrilled to visit with anyone else who loved the Cats.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald B. Tootell.

Survivors include one daughter, Bobbi Menge and her husband, Russell, of Saco; one son, Don Tootell and his wife, Kristina, of Bridger, Mont .; three grandchildren, Patrick Menge and his wife, Haley, Christian Menge and Jeremy Taylor; three step-grandchildren, Brittney Benson, Mitch Taylor and Jesse Taylor; a niece and nephew, Linda Thomas and her husband, Thad, and Chris Tootell and his wife, Jenny.

Bob’s final wish was that his body be donated for research at his beloved Montana State. No funeral services are planned. Donations may be made in Bob’s honor to the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital Foundation, 621 3rd St. S., Glasgow, MT 59230.
