Pipe Band Or Not, It's A Scottie Homecoming

The homecoming show must go on.

The Miles City Caledonian Society will fill in, but only so much, for the missing Saskatoon Police Pipes & Drums during Glasgow Scottie Homecoming Festival Weekend.

The Miles City group has been secured to perform at three events, all on Friday: the 2:30 p.m. homecoming parade, the 6 p.m. tailgate party and halftime of the 7 p.m. homecoming game against Baker. The Saskatoon band backed out a couple of weeks ago, expressing concern that the ivory on their pipes could get confiscated at the border.

No matter, the coronation of the king and queen will proceed as planned at 1 p.m. Friday. Candidates are Sadie Sukut, MaKenzie Wesen and Amanda Wolff for queen and Keil Krumwiede, Sam Schultz and Jason Thibault for king.

The parade lineup begins at 2:10 p.m. at the Civic Center. Twenty minutes laters, the parade will follow a winding route from there to 1st Avenue to FCB, then onto 2nd Avenue to D&G, 3rd Avenue to Campbell Lodge, 4th Avenue to in front of Prairie Ridge, and back to the Civic Center.

In addition to daily homecoming week school activities, the GHS volleyball team will host Glendive on Thursday and Wolf Point on Saturday. (See story in sports, Page 2B).

And on Saturday, the annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast to benefit Kiwanis community projects will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Cottonwood Inn Banquet Room.
