Parents Night, Pre-Season Practices On The Clock For Football, Volleyball, Cross Country

How will the Glasgow Scotties teams follow up on their high-octane 2013-14 sports seasons?

It's time to start finding out.

Parents Night will be Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium, new activities director Brenner Flaten has announced.

All student athletes, grades 9-12, who will be participating in activities in the Glasgow Schools will be required to attend this informational meeting held by the school administration, coaches and sponsors.

During this session, school policies and procedures will be discussed. It will be required that a parent or legal guardian also attend for the student to participate in any MHSA school sponsored activity this year.

Fall sports specific coach-parent meetings will also take place this evening.

The first day of practice is Friday, Aug. 15, at GHS.

Times for each sport:

• Football – 6:30-7:30 a.m. and 6-8 p.m.

• Cross Country – 7 a.m.

• Volleyball – 8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Here's a closer look at the preseason practice for Glasgow's volleyball teams.

For all high school volleyball players in grades 9-12, preseason practice starts on Friday, Aug. 15, at Glasgow High School.

Practice will be held twice a day from 8 to 10 a.m. and again in the evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Players wanting to participate in practice must have their physicals done before they can practice.

The seventh and eighth grade volleyball practices have been changed due to the open house that has been set. The first practice will now be on Aug. 21, the times as follows:

• 7th grade: 3:45 to 5:15 p..m.

• 8th grade: 5:30 to 7 p.m.

CONCUSSION TESTING

Concussion baseline testing is also being required for incoming 7th graders and anyone else who hasn't completed the testing and intends to participate in fall sports.
