Message On A Bottle

How many times have you sorted through “junk” and really looked at it? I picked up an old Coca-Cola pop bottle the other day and noticed "Glasgow, Mont.," on the bottom of the bottle.

Someone needs to help me here. I remember when Coke was bottled in Glasgow, but did these bottles get recycled by being sent back to the original distributor? I have also seen bottles with "Havre, Mont.," on the bottom.

I am sure there were many others around also. I know that our society was not as mobile as it is now, but I may have to do a little research on how the recycling of the empty bottles actually worked. This particular bottle was a 6 ounce one.

Many of us remember getting glass pop bottles out of a vending machine. What was the cost? Remember going to the local drugstore for a Coke or Pepsi after school? Seems that you could add a bag of Planters peanuts to your purchase for the grand price of 25 cents.

Back to Cola being bottled in Glasgow, how many of you remember getting to tour the Coca-Cola plant during your school days? That was always a good field day event.

In case you are wondering, yes, I did bring my bottle to the house and wash it up so that my children can enjoy it also, or shake their heads and throw it at some later date.
