Domestic Dispute Becomes Drug Bust

A caller in the Nashua area reported to deputies a disturbance on Front Street. When deputies arrived, it quickly escalated to something more. The call came into 911 around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28.

As Valley County deputies tried to respond to the scene one of the suspects left in a black pickup truck, but was spotted soon after. The man was spotted choking a woman before he left. He broke a window of a house and shouts continued as several people called into dispatch over the domestic dispute.

The fight that spilled out into the street between Purvis John Purdom Jr. and Ashley Arnold soon became a drug investigation. Valley County Undersheriff Vernon Buerkle explained that while they were interviewing Ivy Arnold, mother of Ashley, it was apparent drugs were at the residence. The three individuals involved live at the same residence where meth and paraphernalia were found.

Buerkle explained that deputies found Purdom had been drinking and driving, and their suspicions led them to seize the vehicle and get a search warrant. Drugs were also found in the vehicle. All three involved were taken into custody and charged.

Ivy Arnold is charged with disorderly conduct, possession of dangerous drugs – felony, possession of dangerous drugs – misdemeanor, and two charges of possession of dangerous drugs paraphernalia. Ashley Ivy faces charges on disorderly conduct, endangering the welfare of a child, open container in a vehicle, possession of dangerous drug parapernalia, possession of dangerous drugs – felony. Purdom is charged with driving while under the influence of drugs, or alcohol, endangering the welfare of a child, disorderly conduct, driving while license is suspended, or revoked, possession of dangerous drugs – felony and possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia.
