Harry David 'Dave' Campbell Jr.

Harry David "Dave" Campbell Jr., 64, of Galveston, Texas, died at his home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1949, in Sherman, Texas, to Harry David Campbell Sr. and Dorothy Mae Anderson, both deceased.

He grew up as an Air Force brat living abroad, at one point in Spain, which he remembered fondly.

He is a 1969 graduate of Glasgow High School. He participated in track and ran with a relay team that held the State record for several years under coach Dan Freund.

He was employed at Texas A&M at Galveston, where he made and enjoyed many friends. Unfortunately his health required him to retire in January 2013.

He was a student of world history with a focus on World War II.

He would play board games with his friends for hours on end over the years and built many dioramas of actual battles. Many of these were lost to Hurricane Ike.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Abraham Campbell; his mother-in-law, Junetta Abraham; a daughter, Davina Graham and her son; a step-mother, Joan Campbell of Montana; one sister, Karen Rickman and her husband, Paul, and their children of Montana; two brothers, Craig Campbell and his wife, Tudi, of Washington and Carl Campbell and his wife, Mandy, and their children of Ohio; one brother-in-law, David Abraham and his wife, Cathy, and their children of Hitchcock, Texas; daughters, Ashley Guzman and her husband, Daniel, and their children of Dickinson and Leila Robinson and her husband, Mac, and their daughter of League City, Texas; a sister-in-law, Frances Henson, of Galveston, Texas; and a great-aunt, Elizabeth Doree, of La Marque, Texas.

He donated his body to Utah Health Science Center at Houston.

His family received visitors from 5-7 p.m. at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston on March 31. A memorial service began at 6 p.m.
