Lloyd Irwin Lefdahl

Lloyd Irwin Lefdahl, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Country Home in Malta, Mont., of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at the Malta Lutheran Church in Malta, followed by interment in the Malta Cemetery in Malta.

He was born Jan. 16, 1923, south of Malta in the Bennett Lake Community, the son of Iver Oleson Lefdahl and Mabel (Peterson) Lefdahl. He lived and worked in the Bennett Lake Community. He attended the Busy Bee Country School and graduated from Malta High School where he enjoyed football, basketball and sang in the choir. He worked on the family farm until he retired at the age of 87.

He married Beth Hershman in Malta on Dec. 7, 1944. She passed away on Feb. 16, 2009.

He served on the Malta School Board, was a member of the Equity Co-Op, was active in the Malta Lutheran Church and church choir, Moose Lodge, Malta Athletic Club as a charter member, and was a Wagon Train Wrangler and supporter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth; a son, Vaughn Lefdahl; one sister, Helen, of Malta; and one brother, Lorenzo, of Kansas.

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Molloy, and her husband, Dr. Dan Molloy, of Billings; three sons, Regan Lefdahl and his wife, Rene', of Anderson, Ind., Vic Lefdahl and his wife, Mary, of Saco, and Arne Lefdahl of Malta; one sister, Donna Brandon, of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren, Sean Molloy, Rana (Lefdahl) Jesson, Eric Lefdahl, Marne Molloy, Erin (Lefdahl) Davis, Michelle Lefdahl Simpson, Reagan Lefdahl Geffre, Andrena Lefdahl, Derek Lefdahl, Ryan Lefdahl, and Kirsten Lefdahl Albus; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
