Speech & Drama To Host State

Glasgow High School is hosting the Montana State Class B-C Forensic Meet on Jan. 31- Feb. 1.

There are 52 schools that participate in Speech, Drama and Debate; with three divisions. There will be 360 students competing at the meet, the best six in each of the 16 events from each division. This is a huge undertaking.

During the two days, there are four preliminary rounds in each event qualifying half of the students for semifinals; and eight in each event for finals to determine that state champions.

Needless to say, many volunteer judges are still needed. Each round requires 60 judges. There are approximately 455 judges’ slots to fill. Most people judge more than one time so it’s not actually 455 individuals.

If you have judged in the past and really enjoyed it; or if you would like to judge for the first time, this is your opportunity to volunteer. And training is provided. Judges clinics are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, January 27, 28 and 30, at 7 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. A fourth clinic is at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29.

Coaches John and Sharon LaBonty said, “Glasgow has a great pool of experienced judges but the State Meet needs even more.”

Please volunteer by calling Sharon at 263-9208 or leaving a message at 228-9208.
