74 New Light Poles For Glasgow

Wooden poles for streetlights and phone lines were a common practice in the years past. Today new poles made of fiberglass and steel stand through the weather and winds and are used more frequently.

NorthWestern Energy has begun to replace 74 streetlight poles in Glasgow. Butch Larcombe, the media contact for the company, explained that the project to replace old poles in poor condition is statewide, but Glasgow is now the next in line to have replacements take place.

“We’re trying to get ahead of problems and work correctively on poles that really need replaced,” Larcombe said. “Each area in the state was prioritized in the state based on the need and conditions.”

The replacement of poles in Glasgow will cost $70,000. Work began for crews in late November and will continue this month. Larcombe explained that they hope to have the project finished by the end of the year. Weather may hold up some of the progress.

The energy company doesn’t foresee any interruption in service as they replace the poles, and they planned to avoid possible disruptions while the project in Glasgow takes place. Customers that may experience problems can call the customer center at 1-888-467-2669.

NorthWestern Energy is also improving other infrastructure issues in the state. They are working on a tree trimming program, substation upgrades and improvements to the natural-gas system in several communities across the state.
