Volleyball Team All Set For Playoff Position

Girls Spike Malta, Outlast Wildcats In Exciting Matchup

Coaches love it when they see flashes of athleticism and fine play. Stuff like that really sparks a team and keeps the energy flowing. For the Scottie volleyball team, those flashes are lasting longer each time they hit the floor.

Stunning hitting supported by outstanding setting choices, remarkable passing and incredible defense led the girls to a five-game victory over a very tough Plentywood team, 18-25, 25-14, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13.

“I am so proud of our team. They truly played for each other in a gritty match with Plentywood,” praised coach Lori Dailey. “Both teams were digging deep to terminate the other in one of the season’s most exciting matchups.”

That win secured a first place conference finish for the Scotties, setting them up for optimal positioning during the District 2-B Tournament, to be held in Wolf Point on Nov. 1-2.

The Scotties chalked up another win last Thursday against the M’ettes of Malta, this time in the GHS gymnasium. The girls were firing on all eight cylinders as they stormed the court and never let down, winning 25-17, 25-14, 25-16.

Towering blocks and punishing kills coupled with nearly flawless passing and feisty defense gave Coach Dailey’s team the edge they have been striving for all season.

“We’ve had some good, hard practices to help us stay sharp and prepare for tournaments, and today’s match showed that,” she said. “We’ll give them the rest of MEA weekend off and hope they come back ready to pick up where we ended.”

The Scotties will travel to Class A Glendive on Thursday, and their final game will be at home vs the Harlem Wildcats on Saturday, Oct. 26. This will also be Senior Night for more than half of the Varsity team. Game times for Saturday are 1, 2 and 3 p.m.
