Scotties Rise In Conference; Host Malta Thursday

The Glasgow Scottie volleyball girls came away with two more wins in the past week to boost their conference standings to 6-1.

The Poplar Indians traveled to Glasgow last Thursday but came up short against a strong Scottie team, losing in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-13, 25-9.

Coach Lori Dailey praised her team’s strong passing and relentless attack.

“We were,” she said, “well-rounded and able to show the strengths of every player.”

On Saturday, the Scottie’s hit the road for a match with Harlem, which they again swept in three straight sets, 25-8, 25-16, 25-12.

“I’m pleased with the level of intensity the team was able to maintain,” Dailey said. “Because of the solid play displayed by each member of the team, we were able to utilize everyone, and that is especially key as we near the end of our season and head into tournaments.”

This week sees the Scotties pitted Tuesday against a very strong Plentywood team up in Wildcat territory, always a tough place to play.

And the schedule doesn’t get any easier as the Scotties face Malta at home on Thursday before taking a small break over MEA weekend. Game times for Thursday are 1, 2:15 and 3:30 p.m., approximately, as always.

Here are the conference standings through Oct. 11: Plentywood 7-1 in the conference and 8-3 overall, Glasgow 6-1 and 7-1, Wolf Point 5-3 and 6-6, Malta 4-3 and 4-5, Poplar 1-8 and 2-8, and Harlem 0-8 and 2-10.
