Ines G. Murch

Ines G. (Thackeray) Murch, 95, died of natural causes on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Glasgow, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1918, in Havre, Mont., the daughter of William and Anna (Engeberg) Thackeray. She was born and raised west of Havre on a ranch on the Milk River. She attended the Cypress Country School in the country through the eighth grade and graduated from Havre High School in 1934.

She worked for the Dept. of Agriculture in Havre, Fort Belknap, Plentywood, Culbertson and in Glasgow in 1940 where she met Vernon R. Murch. They were married on March 16, 1941, in Glasgow. She later went back to work at the Glasgow Air Force Base in 1956 until June of 1974. She retired from that job to continue helping Vernon farm and ranch.

She liked crocheting, her pets, and loved to cook. She donated many afghans to the Shriners Hospital in Spokane and Veterans Hospital in Miles City. She made afghans for all of her grandchildren. She loved riding her four-wheeler checking on Bill’s cows.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Esther; one brother, Webster; and her husband, Vernon.

Survivors include her children, Bill and Iva Murch of Glasgow, Doug and Peggy Murch of Liberty, Mo., and Jeanette (Richard Thomas) Flaten of Missoula.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
