Douglas Runsthrough Sr.

Douglas Everett Ackerman Runsthrough Sr., “Two Spotted Eagle,” “Wamni Kneshga Numba,” 62, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at his mother’s home in Frazer, Mont.

He was born Sept. 3, 1951, in Poplar, Mont., the son of Wilbert and Isabelle Ackerman. He lived in Frazer most of his life.

He was a traditional man who lived life to the fullest. He was a very artistic man and loved his children very much. He was a firefighter, carpenter, artist, craftsman, master cook and spiritual leader.

He loved family gatherings with his family. He looked forward to watching his grandchildren in their sports events. He loved his nieces and nephews and always talked to them about their culture. He liked telling stories about his Native American religion. He was a beautiful singer and a clown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Dubray Runsthrough; one son, Elijah Runsthrough; his mother, Isabelle Ackerman, and father, Wilbert Ackerman Sr.; two grandmothers, Kate Ackerman and Katie Owens Runsthrough; two grandfathers, Wesley Ackerman and Marion Runsthrough; two sisters, Annette Ackerman and Florine Jane Ackerman; three aunts, Ardis Halgren, Jane Baird and Mary Ackerman; and two uncles, Ray Ackerman and Wallace Runsthrough.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Runsthrough and his wife, Myrna, of Brockton, and Sacred Runsthrough and his wife, Carrie;, three daughters, Ember Runsthrough and her husband, Jeromy, Thelma Grey Runsthrough and Lucy Runsthrough of Wolf Point; four sisters, Cordelia Ackerman, Jewel Ackerman and her husband, Milo, Wanda Ackerman and her husband, Garret, of Frazer, and Juliann Ackerman of Glasgow; an adopted sister, Neva Spotted Wolf, of Frazer; four brothers, Stanley Ackerman and his wife, JoBeth, Floyd Ackerman and his wife, Lisa, Ray Ackerman and his wife, Carmen, and Wilbert Ackerman Jr. and his wife, Gracie, all of Frazer; 15 grandchildren, Morgan Spang, Mckell, Alorra, Dominick and Margaux Runsthrough, Jeromy Jr., Jaxon, Jaylee, Jett and Jazz Azure, Trenton and Keely Runsthrough, Selina, Spencer, and Siris Grandchamp, and Goddaughter, Anjelica Campbell Fourstar of Frazer.

A vigil service was held Sunday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. and the funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m., both services held at the Frazer Community Hall. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Frazer.

Pallbearers were all his nephews and nieces.

Honorary Pallbearers were all his lodge brothers, sisters, classmates, adopted brothers, sisters and all his friends to numerous to count.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
