Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Skeg 'Andy' Harlow Anderson

Skeg “Andy” Harlow Anderson, 49, of Sterling, Alaska, died in his sleep Saturday night, Sept. 7, 2013.

Graveside services will be held in the future at the Scobey Cemetery.

He was born to William and Sharon (Battleson) Anderson on May 20, 1964, one of four sons. He and his family spent many years of their life traveling and living in different places across the country, but the Battleson ranch in Peerless was always home.

After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he, along with two other soldiers, was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for saving their sergeant’s life. After being discharged from the Army, he moved to Alaska and has made that his home since.

It was in Alaska 12 years ago he met the love of his life, Beth Rowell, and they began their life together. He has worked on the north slope and on fishing boats and most recently has been caring for Beth after her intense battle with cancer.

He loved all animals, fishing, hunting, boating, water sports and all of nature. He also loved a good joke and prank. He loved kids, especially his many nieces and nephews. He was especially close with his nephew and godson, Ethan.

He had a heart of gold and would help anyone who needed it.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Darla Kay; two sets of grandparents, Grandpa and Grandma Earl and Amy Battleson and Grandpa and Grandma Oscar and Vera Anderson; one uncle, Lorn Anderson; one great-uncle, Ellsworth Brown; and one niece, Ashley Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; his mother, Sharon (Clarence) Hames of Glasgow; his father, William Anderson, of Peerless; brothers, William Anderson and his wife, Peggy, of Dagmar, Duane Anderson and his wife, Jeanne, of Peerless, and Tom Anderson of Forsyth; one sister, Raelyn Raszler, of Glasgow; stepsons, Zach Rowell and his wife, Ashley, and Josh Rowell, all of Alaska; his best friend, Pat Avery, of Alaska; and many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
