Ripken 10U East State Tournament Here Next Week

With the Glasgow youth baseball majors and minors tournaments coming to an end, another phase is about to begin in our season. Glasgow will host the 2013 Montana Cal Ripken 10-and-under East State Tournament on July 11-14.

Eight teams from Glasgow, Belgrade, Big Muddy, Bozeman, Glendive, Havre, Miles City and Richland County will compete to be the Montana-East champion in order to advance to the 10U Regional Tournament in Helena later in July.

The tournament will open with a parade of athletes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, followed by a BBQ social at the ball field.

The hometown team will get the first action in Game 1 against Glendive at 6:30 p.m. Representing the Glasgow 10U All-Stars are Vinny Chappell, Colten Fast, Loden Idler, Cooper Larson, Alexys Mann, Davyn Myrick, Dylan Nieskens, Anika Peters, Rance Rhoads, Jon Rae Taylor, and Eli Zeluff. They are coached by Mike Nieskens, Mike Chappell, and Jeff Larson.

As proved by its success in the Conrad tournament last weekend, this team has the depth and talent that could carry them far into the bracket.

Volunteers have been busy sprucing up the field with painting, mowing, road repair, and infield work. Anyone who is interested in helping out can call Lih-An at 263-5441. Come watch some ball games and cheer for our hometown team!
