Illegal Killing

Tips Sought In Shooting Of Antelope Doe

State wildlife investigators are seeking help from the public regarding the illegal killing of a doe pronghorn antelope last week south of Glasgow in Valley County.

Glasgow-area Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Warden Todd Tryan said the lactating doe was shot dead and left to rot on private property on the south side of Bentonite Road about 4 miles west of the Tampico Highway. Tryan received a report about the dead animal on June 21. He said the animal was likely shot no more than a few days earlier. The animal’s young were not immediately located.

Tryan noted that antelope numbers in the Glasgow area are still very low following a series of hard winters, and that the wanton killing of this female likely means one or more fawns will perish, as well.

Anyone with information about the poaching case is asked to call Tryan directly at 406-263-0068, or FWP’s 24-hour TIP-MONT hotline at 1-800-847-6668. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
