1919-2013

Barbara (Schatz) Boner, 93, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont.

A vigil service will be held Wednesday, June 26, at 7 p.m., and Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m., all at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Nashua. Interment will be in the Nashua Cemetery in Nashua.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1919, in Eagle Butte, S.D., the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Thomas) Schatz. She was raised and attended schools in Eagle Butte and after graduation went on to nurse’s training in Deadwood, S.D., and southern South Dakota. She then worked as a civil servant as a registered nurse at a veterans’ hospital in Denver.

She married Edgar Boner on June 10, 1946, in Rapid City, S.D. They moved to Nashua and lived the rest of their lives in Nashua. She was very active in the community and served as the mayor of Nashua. She was also active in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Boner, in January of 1988, and by three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Ann Andrews of San Francisco, Calif., and Jeanette Boner of Prince George, B.C., Canada; three grandchildren, Sarah Andrews, Charles Andrews and Timothy Andrews, all of San Francisco; three sisters, Tillie Kilby of Great Falls, Mary of California, and Sister Gemma Schatz of Rapid City; and one brother, Benjamin Schatz and his wife, Alice Mae, of Chicago.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
