Register now for Montana Senior Olympics to be held in Great Falls, June 20-22. The registration deadline is Friday, June 7.

Complete registration information and forms are available on the Montana Senior Olympics web site at http://www.montanaseniorolympics.org. Forms are also available in Great Falls at the Park and Recreation Office, Community Recreation Center, Natatorium Swimming Pool and the PEAK Health and Wellness Center; registration books are at many local fitness centers in other cities around the State as well.

The games are open to individuals 50 years of age and over. Sports include archery, basketball, bowling, cycling, field and track, golf, horseshoes, racewalk, racquetball, road race, swimming, table tennis, and tennis, and include several events within each sport. The softball tournament will be held later in the summer at the Multi-Sports Complex, August 17-18, and will have a later registration date.

One of the highlights of the Montana State Senior Olympics will be the Alive@5 event, Thursday, June 20, 5-9 p.m. in Whittier Park. This will be a large community-wide event; the evening will include live music by 49th Street Blues Project, food, drink, games, and a festive atmosphere to kick off the games. A large area will be set up for athletes and their guests, with tables and chairs, providing the opportunity to socialize with fellow participants. The event is FREE! Those who attended the event last year had a fantastic time; what a great way to start your weekend and a wonderful opening to the Montana Senior Olympic games!

The 5k road race will kick off at 6 p.m. on River Drive near the Civic Center, providing an opportunity for those athletes to participate in the games and the party.

The Awards Banquet will be Friday, June 21, at the Holiday Inn and will include entertainment and presentation of the Montana Senior Athlete of the Year Award.

Questions can be directed to the Park and Recreation Office, 406-771-1265 or George Geise, 406-868-0449, [email protected].
