Lee Humbert Holds 25th Annual Bull Sale

Lee Humbert celebrated 25 years of bull sales at the Glasgow Stockyards on the 25th day of April. With auctioneer Roger Jacobs at the microphone, Humbert sold 44 Angus bulls from his Scobey area ranch for an average price of $4,119. The top 10 averaged $5,350.

The high-selling bull this year was Lot 24. HAR Program 2829 is the son of HA Program 7337 out of a New Design/Rito dam. This bull sold to Larry Roberton of Opheim for $6,250. His EPDs were birthweight -2.8, weaning +51, milk +27 and yearling +92. His ratios were weaning 107, gain 106 and yearling 105.

Three bulls tied for the next-highest sale price, $5,500. Lot 8 went to Bill Omvig of Opheim. Humbert HD 2914 was sired by Basin HD 125X out of a Humbert dam. His EPDs were birthweight +1.2, weaning +53, milk +30 and yearling +95. The ratios were weaning 112, gain 104 and yearling 110.

Marty Thievin of Richland took Lot 36. Humbert HD 2937 is another son of Basin HD 125X. The EPDs: birthweight -2.1, weaning +47, milk +31 and yearling +86. This bull’s ratios are weaning 101, gain 119 and yearling 108.

Humbert HD 2903, Lot 45, sold to Greg Nybakken of Nashua. The EPDs were birthweight -3.6, weaning +50, milk +29 and yearling +88. His ratios: weaning 105, gain 87 and yearling 99.

Humbert also sold 11 registered heifers that he said were right out of the upper half of his replacements. The average price was $1,318. The top two went for $1,450 each. Lot 246 sold to Big Dry Angus Ranch of Jordan. She was sired by Basin HD 125X on a Baldridge Guru cow. Lot 257, sired by S Chisum 9174, went to Duwayne Wilson of Scobey.

Ray Garberg of Whitetail was the volume bull buyer with seven. Wayne Solberg of Richland was next with four. The volume heifer buyer, Duwayne Wilson, took home four.
