Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will implement changes this year to the reservation process for state park sites. The changes will create more opportunities for recreationists to enjoy state parks and comply with legislation passed by the 2023 Legislature. Starting this year, visitors will have up to three months prior to their planned arrival date to make campsite and lodging reservations or purchase tour tickets. Valley County HOPE Project will be launching their “Hearts Of Hope” Campaign on Valentine’s Day! This is based on the previous luminary idea, but with a new twist. Instead of selling luminary bags, we will be selling 8” wooden hearts. A heart can be purchased for $10 in memory or in honor of a friend or loved one. We have also added a third choice – service/military men and women. The Hearts of Hope campaign will run now through Memorial Day weekend. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is soliciting comments regarding the proposed implementation of a new waterline at the Fort Peck Fish Hatchery. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Hunter Education course dates have been set for Hinsdale. An in-person classroom course will take place after school hours starting Monday, Feb. 12. All hunter education classes are free of charge. Participants must comply with state fishing regulations, including daily and possession limits. Applications for fishing contests may be approved, approved with conditions or denied by the FWP Fisheries Division in Helena. The Derby will be held at the Fishing Access Site-The Dredge Cuts Trout Pond located on Highway 117. FWP staff will present proposed 2024 upland game bird seasons and regulations, along with recent trends in upland game bird populations, harvest, and hunting pressure.
