Emerson Drive started out back in 1995 going under the name of 12 Gauge, but a few years later, after the band moved to Nashville, they discovered that 12 Gauge was already used by a rap group. The sand drags and mud bogs held at the Valley County Fairgrounds this past weekend drew a respectable number of drivers and spectators. The Sunday mud bogs was the most popular event, with nearly 300 spectators on hand to watch the competitors try to make their way through several feet of muck and mire. In addition to local drivers, some of the 20 entrants came from Billings, Plentywood, Raymond, Crane, Great Falls, and as far as Conrad to compete in the races. The latest incarnation of the Milk River Motorsports Demolition Derby saw increases in both attendance and participation on May 28 at the Valley County fairgrounds. Twenty-five vehicles participated in the Sand Drags and Mud Bogs events last weekend held at the Northeast Montana Fairgrounds at Glasgow. A total of $4,190 was paid out in prize money.
