Long-time Glasgow High School softball head coach Mark Falcon announced his retirement at the Scottie Booster Club All-Sports Banquet last Tuesday, May 26. Falcon became the Scottie softball head coach in 2004, with Arlene Archambeault as his assistant coach. The Scottie softball team suffered their first conference loss to what many consider the top team in the division, the Conrad Cowgirls. The Cowgirls shut down the Scotties, 2-0, on April 25 at the Columbus Invitational Tournament. But not before the Scotties picked up three conference wins in Columbus, beating Huntley Project Lady Red Devils 10-4, Colstrip 16-8, and narrowly edging the tough Stillwater, 5-4. The Glasgow Scottie softball team capped off an amazing season by finishing fourth in the State Tournament. Glasgow kicked off the tournament facing No. 1 ranked Ronan. The game was a hard fought game on both sides with the winner being anyone's guess. Abby Mehling decided to leave guessing out of the equation in the top of the seventh inning. Mariah Stein and Abby Mehling have signed letters of intent to attend Dakota College at Bottineau and play softball for the Lady Jacks. Stein is a catcher-outfielder and Mehling is a pitcher-infielder. Both girls currently play for the Scotties.
