The 26th Annual Scottie Wrestling Invitational proved to be an historical and a record-setting weekend. Twenty-seven schools sent 275 wrestlers to the event, including 39 girls taking advantage of the second year of girls wrestling being a sanctioned sport in Montana. After recently relocating to Valley County from Thailand, husband and wife Dillon Lee and Baika (Puengudom) Cassel were killed when their pickup truck was T-boned Dec. 6 by a BNSF train about eight miles west of Glasgow. Dillon, 31, was born in Glasgow and moved to Thailand after graduating form Glasgow High School to pursue his passion for martial arts. It was another great weekend for the Lady Mavericks as they headed down to the Lewistown Holiday Classic Tournament. The Glasgow Ice Dawgs high school team claimed two wins Saturday in Butte over Salmon High School. The Scottie Speech and Drama team came up against some tough competition this past weekend when they attended the Laurel Invitational. An elderly Glasgow man was killed the afternoon of Dec. 3 in a three-vehicle collision on MT Highway 59 near Jordan. The man’s identity has not been released to The Courier, and Montana Highway Patrol has not responded to multiple requests for additional information. Dillon Lee Cassel died Monday, December 6, 2021 along-side his wife in a vehicle collision on their way to town to go to the gym. Dillon was born June 23, 1989 in Glasgow, Montana to Scott and Robyn (Menge) Cassel. He grew up on the family ranch near Saco, Montana. Dillon also spent much of his of time on his grandparent's farm outside of Saco: working in the seed mill, running the swather, eating Grandma's cooking, and playing with Sarah. Baika Cassel was born May 4, 1994 in Bangkok, Thailand to Sayarm Puengudom and Som Amorn. She was the third sibling in the family having two older brothers. The family grew up in ChiangRai, the most northern province of Thailand. Kermit O. Flom, age 79, of Nashua, passed away early morning Dec. 11th, following a battle with lung cancer. Kermit was born Nov. 26, 1942 in Glasgow to Julius and Olga Flom, 1 of 10 children raised in Nashua, MT. He met and later married Sharon Gilman, June 20, 1966. They had one son, Jody. Kermit was proud to be a member of our National Guard, he worked civil service at the Glasgow Air Base from 1966 to 1968.
