  • Let's Talk Community

    Brianna Leader, For the Courier|Nov 23, 2022

Community is defined by Google as “a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.” I would love to expand on that, and not just the definition, but about the Glasgow community itself. It’s no secret that I was not born nor raised here, but I am happy to have lived here now for eight years. I am sure the tale is as old as time…someone moves here from a “bigger city” and they are sad about it, mad about it, whatever emotion comes to mind. But generally, the consensus is initially not a...

  • Dress Codes

    Gwen Cornwell, For the Courier|Nov 23, 2022

Remembering dress codes of the past. Remember when you as a female, could not wear pants to school. You may remember the indignity of having to wear long pants under your dress as you walked to school on days like some of our recent ones. And you never wore pants to church, weddings, funerals, or other social things. Many outings required hats and dress gloves. It has been easy for me to forget the head coverings and gloves, but somewhere along the line I must have been chastised many times about “proper attire” as I still have...

We attended the most recent NAN (Northeastern Arts Network) concert held up at the Glasgow High School last week. There are four concerts held here each winter. You've now missed the first two. The next one will be held Feb. 6, and is "a modern-day folk trio inspired by the music and legacy of Peter, Paul, and Mary" called The Band Called Honalee. • Hi-Line Hunt

    Gwendolyne Honrud, The Courier|Nov 23, 2022

A year ago, I entered the world of hunting via the Hi-Line Sportsmen Hunter Mentoring Program under the tutelage of Andrew McKean. The experience resulted in two successful deer hunts – a mule and whitetail – and led to two of my most popular stories in my tenure at the Glasgow Courier (see the Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, 2021, editions of the Glasgow Courier for the stories). Months later, sportsmen and readers would ask me about the adventure and inquire as to whether I would continue hunting. My...

    Nov 23, 2022

The Milk River basketball team was set to attend the Special Olympics Montana State basketball Tournament in Butte Nov. 10-12 but winter hit the state and disrupted Glasgow's travel plans. Rather than travel across the state in treacherous conditions for the 89-team tournament, the hoopsters of Milk River made the shorter trek to Sidney for a friendly game against the Eagles. Coach OJ Taylor shared on Facebook: Glasgow won 32-14 but it really didn't matter who won. It was just SO much fun...

  • Customers Encouraged To Monitor Natural Gas Meter And Furnace Vent Areas

    For the Courier|Nov 23, 2022

With heavy snow accumulations throughout the region, Montana-Dakota Utilities is encouraging customers to inspect their natural gas meter and furnace vent areas to make sure there is not a buildup of snow and ice. Customers are encouraged to clear the snow and ice away from the meter set and the furnace vent area. Also, anyone operating snow removal equipment needs to be aware of objects buried under the snow, which can include natural gas meters and risers. Accumulations of snow and ice can cause the regulator and meter to malfunction and...

  • Don't Cross The Streams

    Richard Noble, For the Courier|Nov 23, 2022

Perhaps I’m old, but I have never understood the appeal of watching someone else play a video game. Even though I can hold my own at MarioKart, the idea of using my computer to log on and stream someone else racking up points is wildly foreign. It’s possible however that I’m in the minority; platforms like Twitch and Youtube Gaming have streamed hundreds of millions of live gaming hours directly to eager watchers, while popular content creators practically reach celebrity status. What’s driving this hugely successful market though? Is i...
