The Glasgow Scottie High School wrestling team has taken on a new challenge this year. Under the direction of head coach Jory Casterline and his staff, the team has implemented the Reading with Wrestlers program. Students from Head Start, First Lutheran, Little Scholars and Scottie Daycare will be visited all this week by members of the wresling team. Neal Olson, age 92, of Glasgow, Mont., passed away at Valley View Home in Glasgow. As per Neal's request cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery. Neal was born south of Flaxville, Mont., June 24, 1927, to Nels and Alma (Boom) Olson. He grew up on the family farm south of Flaxville. Gladys I. Hulett, age 95, peacefully passed away due to natural causes on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Mont. Wanda A. DeSonia, 97, passed Nov. 19, 2019 with family at her side. Born Jan. 4, 1922, in Landa, N.D., to Olga and Peter Utgaard, she was the youngest of five children, of which she was the last surviving sibling. She married Charles DeSonia in 1939 at which time they moved to Minneapolis, Minn. While there, Boyd and Sandi were born. Donald L. Doebler, 87, of Hinsdale, Mont., passed way December 9, 2019 at Valley View in Glasgow, Mont. Don was born April 21, 1932 in Sherburne County, Big Lake Township, Minn., to Harold and Hazel (Johnson) Doebler. Don's family moved to Montana in 1933, where his father, Harold, found work on the Elmer Canen farm, the George Accola Farm and the Ft. Peck Dam project. Judith "Judy" Caroline (Green) Graham, 55, passed away on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, of complications from a heart attack. Judy was born on Sept. 30, 1964, at March AFB in Riverside, Calif. to Carl Green and Wanda Bergstrom. In 1966, the family moved to Omaha, Neb., to Offutt AFB. When Judy was five, the family moved to Opheim, Mont. Her parents later divorced and her mom married Graydon "Bub" Edwards in 1971. Charles "Chuck" Lawrence, 84, passed away peacefully with Lorne and Karen by his side on Nov. 14, 2019. Charles was the son of Ed and Peggy Lawrence and brother of Jean, Jim, Donald, Carl, Bob and Shirley of Richland and Glasgow, Mont. Chuck moved to California where he became a successful painting contractor and entrepreneur. The Glasgow Scottie Wrestlers made their way to the Sidney Eagle Invitational this past weekend to test their skills on the mat against some of the finest grapplers from Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. The Scotties brought their all, finishing in the top half of teams at 11th out of 25 total teams. Basketball teams from around the region converged on Glasgow Dec. 6 and 7 for the Class C Showcase to kick off the 2019-20 basketball season. Teams from Lustre, North Country, Nashua, Frazer and Glasgow represented Valley County while Plentywood, Turner, Wolf Point, Melstone and Terry traveled to town to round out the bracket. Lucky number seven was working hard for the Glasgow Ice Dawgs Bantam team this past weekend at the Valley Event Center. The home team notched two victories over the Billings Bulls, scoring seven goals in each of their decisive wins. The Dawgs took to the ice Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. ready to defend their home turf. The Ice Dawg Squirts team faced some tough battles on home ice at the Valley Event Center Dec. 8 and 9. The young skaters faced off against Great Falls and Havre but were unable to find a path to victory.
