Those driving in and out of Fort Peck have noticed updated speed limit signs on the Fort Peck Highway, specifically MT Highway 42 and 24, reducing the speed limit to 60 miles per hour. The Save Your.Town organization is coming to our town Thursday Sept. 22, as part of the statewide Reimagining Rural Virtual Gathering. In just 12 years, 26 students have received help with college expenses thanks to the Clarence and Charlotte Fuhrman Memorial Scholarship Fund. Monte Layne Eayrs, age 68, passed away at the Glendive Medical Center Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, after a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer. David Barry Christenson passed away unexpectedly at the Billings Clinic Hospital on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, with his family by his side. Dave was born Oct. 22, 1949, in Williston, N.D., to Pete and Esther (Sjovold) Christenson. He was the baby of the large family trailing along by 11 years. Carrol A. Dooper, 87, was greeted by the numerous furry companions she cared for during her lifetime when she crossed over on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022. Cremation has taken place, as per Carrol's wishes, and a graveside service will be held at the Highland Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 29, with a reception following at the Cottonwood. Millard "Butch" Tewell went to heaven Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, after a short battle with cancer spending seven days at Billings Clinic. Butch was an organ donor, and his corneas were harvested. He has been cremated with services scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, at Bell Mortuary with refreshments following. Both the boys and girls Scottie cross country teams placed second at their home meet Sept. 17 at Kiwanis Park in Fort Peck on a beautiful and mild day making for perfect running conditions.
