Organizers for the campaign to “Vote Yes Valley View Home” are hosting informational meetings around the county throughout July. Meetings have already occurred in Hinsdale (July 10) and Opheim (July 12). On July 6, law enforcement responded to a two vehicle accident outside of Glasgow that resulted in a fatality. Valley County Sheriffs discovered a head-on collision near mile marker 546, roughly three miles east of Glasgow. Emergency medical services also responded to the scene and both occupants were transported to Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital. Local business owner, Lee Nelson, suffered a heart attack on July 5, and after being flighted to Billings, he suffered several other heart attacks, which required him to be flighted to Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 7. Since being admitted in Utah, he has various forms of life support hooked up to his heart and has been making good improvements. He is getting stronger with each day that passes. Change is in the air at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital with extensive renovations and space repurposing on the horizon, and that spirit of change doesn’t stop at the building. Since March of 2017, six new department directors or managers have joined the ranks of FMDH leadership. On July 5, Children’s Hospital in Minnesota and an insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, decided to terminate their relationship. By terminating this relationship, numerous families have to decide where else to obtain the quality care they need or incur a financial burden, as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota will be out-of-network when using Children’s Hospital as a provider. Governor Steve Bullock signed four bills on July 10 aimed to better protect victims of sexual assault. Recently, I’ve seen an article on social media quite a few times that is very disturbing, to say the least, not to mention downright disgusting. Apparently, New Hampshire State Rep. Josh Moore once stated [in a Facebook post archived by the online magazine Slate] that if he sees a woman breastfeeding in public he has the right to grab her breasts. Keith Wynegar, 59, a man of many talents and a longtime resident of Glasgow, Mont., died unexpectedly Thursday morning, July 6, 2017, in a car accident while on his drive to work. He was born in Wyandotte, Mich., on Feb. 9, 1958, to Frank and Betty Wynegar. He was raised in the area of Great Falls, Mont., and moved to Glasgow in 1984 for a job and spent the next 33 years with Glasgow being his home. He was a man of many skills and talents. Thomas Frank Dartman died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the age of 87. He was a child of the great depression, whose parents homesteaded along the Hi-Line, north of Hinsdale, Mont. His parents were John and Ella, and he was one of 10 children raised near and in Hinsdale. John and Ella also had parents, siblings and cousins that lived, worked and homesteaded in the area, all of which influenced his character and had some role in determining the man he would eventually become. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team competed in Plentywood July 8 and 9, with five individual swimmers earning first-place finishes. With her first place finish in the 50m freestyle, the 400m freestyle and the 100m backstroke, Katie Kaiser earned high point in her age group. The Glasgow Reds brought home first-place hardware from the First National Tournament held in Williston July 7, 8, and 9. In their quest for the championship, the boys suffered just one loss.
