Glasgow High School student Garrett Lloyd has been accepted into the Western Aerospace Scholars Summer Residency which will allow him to participate in a six-day experience in Helena this August. Lloyd was accepted into the Western Aerospace Scholars Program during his sophmore year of high school. This program provides opportunities for Montana state high school students to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) topics. Milk River Inc. has told The Courier they have restarted their recycling program and have started taking corrugated cardboard. According to Michelle Eliason, the group has not started taking aluminum, plastic or paper due to the fact that the baler is not strong enough to handle those products. She hopes in the future the program can be expanded to include these items. “We are trying to do cans but the baler does not have enough oomph, and we are putting in a grant for a better one,” explained Eliason. On July 5, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a single vehicle accident approximately one mile east of Saco at mile marker 500 on Highway 2. Responders from Saco, Hinsdale and Malta as well as medically-trained persons arrived upon the scene. A fire destroyed two rooms and the contents in a home on the north side of Glasgow just after 10 a.m. on July 5. According to Glasgow Fire Chief Brandon Brunelle no one was injured. The volunteer fire department responded with their command vehicle, three engines and a truck. A total of 18 firefighters were on scene. I have an abundance of the herb, French tarragon. When I'd first planted it a few years ago, I treated it like parsley: as an annual that I'd have to replant yearly if I liked it. Walking into our tiny living room before Christmas had become a yearly event for this older couple. There was a gift in hand which they presented to Mama and then relaxed to chat awhile. The historical background is that the people of Glasgow wanted a public library and reading room, so a meeting was called on Oct. 17, 1904. At this meeting, a Public Reading Room and Library Association was formed. Arlo B. Pohle was born October 20, 1949, in Plentywood, Mont., to Lucille and Andrew Pohle. He passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at 68 years of age. The Reds didn't lose a single game on their way to winning the championship in the First National Tournament held in Williston July 6-8. It was their second consecutive championship at the tournament. On Friday, Glasgow played Watford City and got the 4-2 win. The 51st Annual John Hahn Memorial Softball Tournament, held at John Hahn Field in Fort Peck, wrapped up July 8, with The Mill emerging as champions. The team from the Sidney and Billings areas defeated Fort Peck Marina 29-3 in the chipper, which earned them a $1,000 cash prize. The same team won the tourney in 2017, competing as the Yank-Deez.
