Taking a break from providing palliative care, the Hinsdale Volunteer Ambulance Service was at Milk River Days to provide some palate care. The Valley County Project HOPE (Helping Others Pay Expenses) hosted their first annual barbecue at the Valley Event Center on July 4 to not only celebrate the holiday but to also allow the community to come together for a good cause. Two Rivers, Glasgow Downtown Association and the Glasgow Chamber have teamed up to provide a fun way to get over the mid-week slumps during the summer and early fall months. Every third Wednesday of the month through September, businesses and shoppers can get out to participate in Hump Day and Alive at Five. The first Hump Day of the season was on June 19, followed by Alive at Five at Nemont Telephone that evening. Warden John Huberty, with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks in Fort Peck, Mont., is investigating the cause of a jet ski explosion that injured two and left the jet ski completely destroyed on the afternoon of July 4 on the Missouri River near Fort Peck. The call came into Valley County dispatch at 2:59 p.m. on Independence Day reporting that a jet ski had exploded at the boat ramp off DearBorn Road near the Roundhouse Point Campground. If you grew up as a country kid you may remember seeing, or having, bulls around your area that sported a Bull Ring. These bull rings were not anything fancy or dressy for the bull, although many of these rings of the past were made of brass, which could be considered fancy. Apparently this practice can be traced back to Biblical days. Rings were placed into the nose of said animal. The theory being, if you could control the head of the animal, the body would follow. Gene LaVerne Brandt, age 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday July 4, 2019, at Valley View Home in Glasgow, Mont. Delsie Doris (Funk) Brooks, 91, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, Mont., where she resided. Delsie "Del" was born to Ferdinand and Agatha Funk on June 30, 1927, delivered by her father on the Funk homestead in Larslan, Mont. Children often rode horses in those days and Delsie's family was no different. She and her siblings enjoyed such activities but an accident occurred when Delsie was just two years old. The stands were packed for the 40th Annual Hinsdale, Montana Rodeo the evening of July 3. Fair weather, clear skies and the smell of the grill filled the air as rodeo contenders showed off their skills in everything from barrel racing and calf roping to bronc and bull riding.
